My OLD Man!

Dave turned the big 4 0 this year! He told me time and again that I'd better do something BIG for him.  So, 2 weeks BEFORE his birthday, the girls and I had him a surprise birthday party. I just knew that someone would tell him but thankfully everyone stayed quiet and we managed to surprise him. I can honestly say that for the first time in 18 years of being with him, that night was the only night I have seen him speechless!

We rented out the dining area of Old Town Hall, had a delicious meal of BBQ & sides (thanks to my dad & uncle Kenny) & celebrated with 72 members of our family & friends. It was WONDERFUL!

The girls and I left the house around 12 that day under the impression that we were going to visit Mimi. We had to start setting up around 4 but I just had to get away from him. I was so nervous and I just knew that Lydia or I would slip up. As soon as we left our house, we told Layton. I couldn't tell her before the actual day because she just isn't good at keeping secrets. She was mad at us for keeping a secret from her but when we went to Wal-Mart that afternoon, she told everyone she seen "we're having a surprise birthday party for my daddy tonight"!!! Obviously we did good keeping it from her. Thanks to Dianna & my mama for helping us get all the decorations up. Around 5:30 all of the guests starting showing up.  At 6 Dave showed up. Aunt Chris did an awesome job of getting him there.
SURPRISE! Sorry for the blurriness, my hands were shaking so bad.

My little crafty Lydia wanted to make these posters for her daddy. They are a bunch of old pictures that are in the shape of a 4 & a 0. I think she did a great job.

Once again, Miss Darlene did an awesome job of making the cake!

He gots lots of old people gifts!

I was really sad that we didn't get a picture of the 4 of us together. It went by so fast. He admitted later that night that he assumed we would do something for him but it threw him off by being 2 weeks before his birthday. The girls and I didn't give him his birthday present until his actual birthday. We gave him a Big Green Egg. He has wanted one for years. I really hated buying that sucker but you only turn 40 once, right?! Hope you had a wonderful birthday honey! We love you so much.

Layton's first basketball season

Layton decided she wanted to try basketball this past winter. She did really well but she was just a tiny bit too short to score much. Next year, she will be fine but she just didn't have the strength this year. She really enjoyed it though and did really good. Dave and I, mostly Dave, coached her team. He was so great with the team and everyone loved COACH! I don't think many knew his name other than Coach!!! We won all of our games and by the end of the season, every person on the team had scored at least one goal.

The Little Golden Waves

Look at the FACE! Geez!!!

One fun thing was that these old friends got to play against each other! Love these sweet little girls.

Lydia turns 10!

I can't believe my baby girl is 10, double digits! We celebrated her birthday by taking her and some friends out to eat and over to a skating/bowling/laser tag place, then home for a slumber party. I think everyone had a great time.

Happy Birthday my sweet Lydia!

Christmas 2014

I realize I'm posting Christmas in May but better late than never! I'm posting some of my favorite pictures from Christmas 2014.

I was so afraid Ruby would tear our tree down, but she didn't ever try to climb it. However, she did love sleeping under it.

Standing in line at Christmas City one VERY cold night!

Lydia told Santa she wanted a phone. Layton told him "All I want is new panties"! :)

My mom, the girls and I went to see the Singing Christmas Tree at Bellevue. It was wonderful. We will definitely go every year now.

Yes, my sweet daughter just grabbed the whole Sprite bottle and drank from it, rather than pouring herself a cup! Honestly, we do NOT do this at home!

Of course, Sam & BJ bought the girls nerf guns. I love the concentration in this picture!

The kids made Christmas cookies at the Howard's one night!

This is was the year for tablets. Santa left both of the girls their very own tablets!

Mimi and some of her girls!

Randi & Mark only come home for Chrismtas every other year. The last time they were in, Lydia was shorter than Mark! She found it cool that she has passed him!!!

Our silly Papa!

Mimi knew just what to get Layton! She LOVES powdered donuts!

Layton & Jaxson! These 2 are a mess together!

Lydia got the new robe she was asking for!

And Layton got some footy pjs. About a week before Christmas, she came home and told me that they made baby pajamas for her size too! She was so excited to learn this!
